Yesterday was my mother and my sister’s birthday. Yup, they share the same birthday. Since I don’t have enough funds to throw a party, I decided that we should prepare a sumptuous dinner for them as a way of thanksgiving for another year in their lives. We prepared Kinilaw (raw fish in vinegar), Grilled Bangus (milk fish), and two birthday cakes and I also got them two lechon manok and lechon liempo from Liempo King.
While we were eating, my sister-in-law, my nephews, including my mom and my sister told me that both the lechon liempo and lechon manok somewhat tasted different. The lechon liempo tasted like a lechon baboy (pork delicacy here in the Philippines) while the lechon manok tasted better than our usual. So, I explained to them that I got them from the newest Lechon King! Their lechon liempo is called that way because it is more than the usual liempo we eat. It is cooked just like a whole lechon. It has special herbs and spices sandwiched inside the pork belly. The skin is crunchy just like what we like in a lechon baboy.
Aside from the taste, I love the price! It is so budget friendly. One order of a lechon liempo weighs around 500 grams and it costs Php135 good for two to three people. While their lechon manok is Php140! You can also dine in and get their value meal for only Php60 and this includes lechon liempo, rice and soup.
Anyway, if you want to taste this delicious and one-of-a-kind lechon liempo, you can visit Liempo King at Rizal St. (near Gaston Park). They are open every day from 9:30am to 11:30pm. They also have takeout stands at located along 6th Tomas Saco Street and Upper Carmen (Across Xavier Subdivision) here in Cagayan De Oro City.
